The DYNACORD FX 12 is concepted as a medium longthrow mid/high­ frequency cabinet in coaxial design. It can be used also without subwoofer cabinets in high­qualitysound reinforcement system for speech for medium­throw distances. The recommended active x­over frequency is 140 Hz, 18 dB/oct. Butterworth. In the lo­mid range an DL 12 ST Electro­Voice loudspeaker chassis works into a conical horn. The 80x40 Constant Directivity horn, driven by an Electro­Voice 1.4" ND 6 neodymium driver delivers the frequency range above 1kHz. The FX 12 is equipped with a passive x­over (1kHz, 18 dB/oct). Every transducer is protected against thermal overload with an electronic circuit called VOICE COIL TRACKING PROTECTION. This circuit senses the terminal voltages of the transducers and simulates the thermal behaviour of the tranducers’ voice coils. In case of a potential thermal overload the power applied to the speakers is reduced to a safe level. Power amps up to 1200W 8 Ohms can be used in order to have maximum dynamic range without the danger of thermal overload in non­controlled situations. The VOICE COIL TRACKING PROTECTION exhibits ‘soft’ switching characteristics, so no annoying clicks or pops are audible. The circuitry automatically resets after the voice coil temperature has reached a safe value.

The FX 12 cabinet is made of 15mm poplar plywood. All corner joints and braces are grooved and glued in order to reduce cabinet resonances to a minimum. The cabinet surface is covered with a heavy­duty black carpet. A powdercoated steel grille and an acoustic foam front protects the speakers . The connector panel uses two 4­pole Speakon connectors (Input/Output) for safe connection and easy chaining to the next loudspeaker. The pin assignment is switchable from NORMAL (1+, 1­) to SYSTEM (2+, 2­). The handle trays on the sides guarantee easy and safe transport. 4 large­sized rubber feet and 4 castors allow easy handling and safe stand. 4 integrated rigging tracks and 2 webbing strap­points can be used for easy ‘flying’ of the FX 12 cabinets.
