Following up on the tremendous success of its HDS6/HR6 Headphone/Audio Distribution System, Furman introduces an enlarged and enhanced system, the HDS16/HRM16 Headphone/Audio Distribution System System. The HDS16 Headphone Distribution System and HRM16Headphone Remote Mixer are the logical extension toFurman's very popular headphone amp/audio distributionlineup. These models are designed to function equally well forboth live (inear or stage monitors) and studio applications, allowing greater flexibility and ease for both the user and theengineer. The HDS16/HRM16 Headphone/Audio DistributionSystem cleanly routes 8 mono and 4 stereo signals to remotemixing locations via Centronics 50 pin cables. Up to eightHRM16’s can be connected directly or daisy chained to a single HDS16, allowing as many as sixteen users (two pereach HRM16) to customize eight different mixes. A uniquetalkback system allows each user to communicate with otherusers and the main mixing location. Additionally, a SOLOsystem allows the engineer to mute all but one stereo sendfrom the mix location very handy for reviewing recent takesor rough mixes. Additional HRM16 features include localeffects send/return, line out, overall bass/treble controls, talkback level, and a master level control. The double rackspace HDS16 provides full patchingfunctions on its front panel via ¼"" and TT input jacks, and isintended to be installed at the mixing console location. TheHDS16 provides power and signal conditioning to drive theHRM16 Remote Mixers. There is no power cord or wall wartrequired for the HRM16’s. In addition, it includes two ¼"jacks for the twoway talkback functions, and a SOLOREMOTE switch with an indicator that allows muting of all butone stereo feed at all HRM16’s. This comes in handy forisolating tracks for critical listening without having eachHRM16 user turn down all but one channel. The SOLOfunction also includes a ¼" jack so actuation can be donewith a footswitch. Front panel indicators include POWER ONand SOLO ON. The rear panel includes six Centronics 50 pinconnectors to link up to six HRM16’s (more if daisy chaining isused), and the standard Furman ON/OFF and GROUND LIFTswitches. The unique talkback system is extremely versatile. It canbe configured two different ways by moving a jumper on thecircuit board in the HDS16. One way allows the talkback micon each HRM16 to be fed to all of the other HRM16 units aswell as the HDS16. The other configuration allowscommunication to the HDS16 only. This is particularly usefulfor stage use where the user’s talkback mic should not feedinto all of the monitors (including the user's own monitor). The HRM16 Remote Mixer may either attach to a micstand with the included mic stand clip and hardware, or beplaced on a table or shelf. The unit requires no external power, and allows full volume/low distortion headphone mixes to becreated on the fly. The eight mono and four stereo signals each have levelcontrols. Each mono channel also has a pan control and aneffects send control which feeds its own rear panel ¼" send/return jacks; the affected signal is returned into the mix andcontrolled via a stereo effects return knob. Also on the rearpanel of the HRM16 is a mono line out ¼"" jack to drive stageor inear monitors, a jack for a talkback footswitch, and two 50pin Centronics connectors to allow daisy chaining of up to fourHRM16’s. Connecting HDS16 and HRM16’s is easy, as each mixeris supplied with a 25foot superflexible interconnect cablewhich can easily be extended or routed through walls anddaisy chained to other HRM16’s. Cable extenders and thruwallinstallation kits are available as well (see below). The HDS16 and HRM16 are sold separately.THREE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTYThe HDS16 and HRM16 are protected by a threeyearlimited warranty covering defects in materials andworkmanship.
